Let us, less trust. 20171113.

I have heard of a friendship

That has lived for years

In a world as fickle as this

Without an ounce of trust.

Said to be born of circumstance

For two unfitting souls on earth

Legend has it, it began

No different than the rest.

It would have had to survive

Countless everyday struggles

Come up victorious every time

Or be bent by misfortune like a pebble.

I have seen many a friendships

Built on strong moral principles

Of mad love and unwavering trust

Fade and forgotten like everyday dust.

So I wonder what it must be

That could such a friendship keep

Unbroken, a tiny miracle

Of the human heart, weak undeniably and fickle,

To have left behind a living echo

A remnant of its glory and birth

But most of all an epitome for those like me

Who need to learn to love without needing to trust.
