"But I can't thank you!" 20171126.
There is death in all the places waiting for us
And every time I've seen her I have said hello
And all she did was stare through me
Like I was scared and I was glad,
Though I wanted her to, she hasn't said hello.
"But I can't thank you!"
She has taken from me,
What I was led to believe was mine
Without a word of warning,
Not once in the times I saw her, walk past by
And I have stopped, turned and called.
"You could have said who you were there for!"
She comes to visit, a mute thief,
Unwelcome and uncaring, in daytime or in sleep
And she will gift you tears, to take a few smiles
And leave you staring, bereft of good times
A creature not taught to be sorry, just kind.
"But what good is kindness alone?"
